Drs. Alan Daniels and Bassel Diebo are inviting an ambitious applicant for a research position in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Spine Division, at Brown University. Brown Spine is one of the International Spine Study Group (ISSG) Centres which gives access to the top leading institutions in the country and their faculty. Brown is among the top ISSG centres in terms of research productivity with more than 575 publications for Dr. Daniels and Diebo. Research fellows will receive an immerse and well-rounded experience in all aspects of the research process including roles in development of study questions, literature review, study design, IRB approvals, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, writing of manuscripts, and preparation of presentations. The position will allow the research fellow to work closely with students, researchers, residents, and attendings within the orthopaedic and neurosurgery departments.

Salary: Annual salary of $40,000
Duties of the research coordinator will include:
- Help with prospective enrolment of Brown patients to the ISSG Databases
- Lead a team of medical students and work closely with a second research fellow to manage departmental retrospective and prospective databases.
-Preparation, writing, and submission of manuscripts.
-Utilizing the Pearl Diver database.
-Measurement of radiographs.
-Attend the weekly research meeting and coordinate with undergraduates, medical students, residents, and fellows at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine.
-Performs relevant literature reviews as needed.
-Provide a wide range of support in research administration, IRB management, grant proposal, and publication tracking.
Ideal characteristics of the coordinators should include:
-Experience with data management and statistical analysis software (SPSS, R Studio, Stata) is mandatory: Students with bioscience and biomechanical background are encouraged.
-Motivation for a career in orthopaedics or Neurosurgery
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Excellent organizational skills
-Ability to self-manage
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PPT and Excel.
