2024-2025 Brown University Sports Medicine Research FellowshipDr. Michel Arcand is seeking an ambitious 3rd-year medical student who is interested in a year-long fellowship in the field of Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder and Elbow Surgery to strengthen his/her application for orthopaedic residency, expose the fellow to academic research, and enhance research skills. 4th-year medical students may also apply, but priority will be given to 3rd year students.   The fellow will be directly involved in all facets of the research process including, roles in managing clinical trials, development of study questions, literature review, study design, IRB approvals, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, writing of manuscripts, and preparation of presentations. The position will allow the research fellow to work closely with residents, fellows, and faculty and have the opportunity for extensive publication and presentation of research. 

Duration: 1 year 
Where: University Orthopedics & Brown University in Providence, RI
When: May/June 2024 
Salary: Annual salary of $30,000 

Duties of the research coordinator will include: 
- Responsible for data collection and management throughout relevant studies including submission of manuscripts
- Quantitative data analyses of resultant data- Performs relevant literature reviews as needed
- Coordinates research seminars and supports research projects with undergraduates, interns, medical students, residents, and fellows at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine- Provide a wide range of support in research/clinic administration, grant proposal, publication tracking
- Daily management of local and multi-site clinical trials

Specific prerequisites and characteristics of the coordinators should include:  
- Motivation for a career in orthopedic surgery
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Clinical or technical research experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently and independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel), database research experience
