Orthopedic Research Fellow Position
About the Position:
We are offering a one-year, paid position as the Hip Preservation/Trauma Surgery Research Fellow for Dr. Joel Williams at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and Cook County Hospital for the 2024-2025 academic year. This opportunity provides a unique and immersive experience in the field of academic orthopedics and research. Please note, we are unable to fund any international applicants at this time.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Clinical Repository: The research fellow will be responsible for maintaining the clinical repository, a growing outcomes database serving as a data source for clinical research projects. Duties include actively managing prospectively collected surgical data, consenting new patients, ensuring follow-up documentation for prior patients, and maintaining active IRB approval for the repository.
Biomechanical and Motion Analysis Studies: Opportunities exist to engage with Rush's biomechanics and motion analysis labs, equipped with state-of-the-art technology including a markerless motion capture system. Responsibilities may include ordering lab specimens, obtaining surgical equipment, conducting biomechanics studies, collecting motion capture data, and coordinating with lab staff.
Imaging Studies: At Rush, we are leaders in 3D modeling for hip preservation surgery. The research fellow will generate these models through segmentation of advanced imaging and conduct 3D imaging studies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a health science-related field.
- Prior experience with research and statistical analysis is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
