Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I am also clueless how to approach my 4th year re: electives, applications and whatnot. I was wondering if some of you wonderful people would be so kind as to help me out with a few questions. I'm in NYC and I'd like to stay in NYC or somewhere on the East coast. Can someone tell me all of the 'solid' orthopaedic programs in this area, maybe ranked (obviously your opinion, although maybe I'm missing some ranking site or something??)? Also, I'm not sure where to do away electives, any ideas in this area? Lastly, I scored 240's on boards, will most probably NOT be AOA (0-3 honors third year), and will have 2-3 articles submitted for publication in Orthopaedics by the time I am applying. I was kind of wondering what programs were realistically attainable?? Thank you so much for your help. I need it!!

try searching for "NYC". There are tons of posts comparing the New York residencies.

the search part of this forum is really useful. Along w/ NYC type in the names of specific programs and look through the match stats for past years if you want to get some idea of where you stand. there's also good stuff on 3rd yr electives and aways. just type these phrases into the search and from what i've read it helps to come up w/ specific questions about programs. It helps people who have rotated or know any info to answer questions that aren't so broad. also when you search keep in mind that when you type in NYC you may get 20 "hits" but if you type New York Programs you may get 50 and so on. good luck
