Are there any programs that you know of that are going to 6 yrs? Also, what are the best sports programs? Thanks in advance.
st louis univ is going to 6 years. Brown already is i think. There are several others that have couple of 6 year spots in addition to 5 year ones. Some have separate match numbers, others do not.

It depends on what you mean "best" sports programs-- experience, exposure, variety, opportunity or all of the above. Most programs will have good sports programs because there are plenty of sport guys out there. Also, academic centers tend to treat affiliated athletes at the university.

Personally, I think the best sports programs are the ones where you get early OR experience b/c the most common procedure is arthroscopy. The more you do the better you are. Programs that have fellows will limit residents' experience. I've seen it firsthand. I don't care what people say but fellows DO take cases away from residents. If you end up doing complex sport cases, then a fellowship is for you. If you plan on just doing ACLs, scopes, rotator cuffs, etc., then find a program that lets you do a lot of them.

As far as 6 year programs, most websites and Frieda should have that info.
