Just curious what others thoughts were about this topic. I've certainly heard many different things about the pros and cons of staying put but have not really been able to substantiate any of these things past subjective opinions.
Things I've been told:
Pros: do not have to move; already know the residents, faculty, system, emr, city; continued involvement in research that's in process; ability to mentor junior students whom you mentored during medical school
Cons: you don't get balanced training; people may think you're odd or unable to move on; people may assume you do not want to go elsewhere for fellowship;
What are other people thinking in terms of this? Have your home programs discussed this with you/encouraged you to stay/encouraged you to move on, etc? What have you heard about this?
Thanks
