I would say the biggest difference is going to be for lifestyle. It depends on waht you're used to, and into.

einstein is difficult to adjust to the NY lifestyle. The commute is not the best, and to live locally is tough. You have to be ready to deal with the inner city, traffic, congestion, troubles of NY life if you want to go there...

For me, I could never goto a place like that, because my sleeping time is ungodly precious. Daily lifestyle with NY ammenities, or not so much city perks, and easier daily lifestyle.

It's a tough choice, unless you know what you want

Where would you live if you went to AE? I'm looking at it on the map and I'm a little confused if you'd try to live in the city, or if you'd live somewhere east of the hospital?

Lots of residents live on the UES in the city. Some live further north and north east..

Living on the UES is okay b/c the commute isn't bad in the morning.. HOWEVER, parking is a pain when you're post call, so you'd want a spot.

As far as living near the suburban area.. you can do that too.

It's up to you, but be forewarned, it's new york.. traffic can be painful

i was up there (einstein) interviewing this weekend. They have resident subsidized housing right next to the monte campus, a lot of the residents live there at least for the first few years. They also cover three campuses though, and jacobi is about 10 mins away from monte/resident housing. Some of the guys said they move downtown or to manhattan and commute which is apparently fine (but traffic does indeed exist)

Ya I'm interested in trauma so I'm pretty interested in AE, but I'm more of a suburban lifestyle kind of guy so was curious if I could work that out.

I think you'd have some difficulty making something like that work. the trauma is without question good at that program, but all three of the hospitals are in the bronx...you're kinda stuck being mostly/partly in the city.
