Can anyone comment on the AE program I am starting my away this week.
I graduated the program in 07. It was a blast and really prepared me well for fellowship and the real world (which I JUST started).
As for your rotation, just work hard...day 1 or 2, try to see what everyone's role is, and by day 3 or 4, start doing what the PGY2s and 3s are doing (prerounding goes a long way, and you can split that up with your co-subIs, so everyone looks good). See what paperwork everyone does at the end of each case, and have it done first. Have the dressing cart ready to go, and most of all, read. All you will really need to know at this stage is anatomy (netter's ortho anatomy book is the best) and trauma (the handbook of fxs is best for that.) Be proactive, get there early, stay late.
This is the same advice for all rotations anywhere, but I'll tell you that Monte is a very blue-collar program, so a hardworking subI with OK stats can get farther than a lazy one with 270 boards.
Good luck
