aways/rotating @ san francisco programs

I posted another thread re aways, and now I'm looking for more specific info on programs. One location I'm interested in is Bay Area ... as far as I can tell from FREIDA, the only programs in that area are:

St. Mary's
UCSF
Stanford

Can anyone comment on how much these programs favor rotators? Would rotating at St. Mary's, a community program, damage my chances at academic programs (esp. the other SF programs and Boston programs)?

Any more specific info/comments would be great as well (e.g., how your rotation experiences at these places were, etc.).

I don't think rotating at one place damages your chances anywhere. All the program directors know how competitive prtho is. What you need to ask yourself is what program do you want to be at. I'm a pGY-1 @ st MAry's which I stumbled upon luckily during the interview trail. I couldn't be happier. Tons of volume, tons of operating, tons of specialists and tons of variety without the hangups of a lot of places. Access to research is a bit more difficult than being at a university (i.e. lab space), but most of the PGY 3's and above already have a handful of publications. Check out the website. sforp.org
