Baptist Health Orthopedic Care (formerly Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute) is offering a one-year orthopedic research fellowship focused on Foot & Ankle orthopedics beginning July 2022. Highly motivated medical students and recent medical school graduates are invited to apply for this clinical research position.  The position is funded with health benefits.  FMG’s will be considered however this position is not eligible for a VISA.The research fellow will be directly involved in all facets of the research process including coordination of ongoing projects, literature review, study design, IRB applications, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, writing of manuscripts, abstracts, and preparation of audio-visual presentations.  The research fellow will have the opportunity to be first or second author of any submitted manuscript that they significantly contribute to.   It is expected that the research fellow have over 10 publications/abstracts/presentations over the course of the year.  The research fellow is also expected to attend and help prepare weekly F&A conferences as well as monthly journal club. The fellow will have access to a wet lab, located within our main office, as well as expertise from members of the Baptist Health Orthopedic Care Research Division.  The fellow will also meet weekly with the 3 members of the Foot & Ankle Division to review individual projects, provide guidance as well as career mentorship.  Shadowing in the operating room is an option depending on fulfillment of research obligations and surgeon amenability. This opportunity requires an extremely motivated individual with strong organization and communication skills.
