Hey everyone,

I need to decide to interview at one of these programs by tomorrow. I have heared some good things about Beaumont, but nothing as far as North Carolina. If anyone would be willing to put in their 2 cents on either of these programs I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
No brainer, North Carolina. Great program in much better weather. Their chairman is great also.

I interviewed at both places, granted this is 5 yrs ago but I doubt that much has changed. It all depends on what your interests are. UNC is an academic place, Beaumont is a community program (although they are an academic powerhouse in spine). Beaumont is one of the best clinical residencies in the country, hands down. They have something like 12-16 ORTHO rooms running daily. Incredible volume of surgery. Residents rarely if ever double-scrub. I would give Beaumont a very long hard look. It's a gem of a program.

Been to both and I would agree with the last comment - go with Beaumont. The hospital is really well off and you get to operate a ton. It was my #2 on the rank list when I went there two years ago.

Beaumont is one of top clinical programs in the country. No question the operative training you get there would top most programs, UNC included. I rotated there as a med student a while back, was my top choice but unfortunately did not get in. It's a very competitive program to match into.
