Has everyone heard about the budget problem and expected job cuts at Jackson memorial in Miami? Are these expected to affect the residency program? I'm sure this kind of thing has happened elsewhere before, jsut wondering what to expect.

Thanks for anyone with any advice!
I was thinking of rotating at miller and I was wondering if anyone has any advice/feedback that would help. DId you like it/would you recommend it? Any orthos I should work directly with? Feel free to PM me!

I'm a chief at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial program. The budget cuts will in no way affect our program nor any other accredited program. The majority of cuts are affecting satellite hospitals, not Jackson Memorial Hospital (main campus).

For information on rotating: http://www.jhsmiami.org/body.cfm?id=184 (and then click on senior electives).

Do you know if Miami gives preference to Florida residents over residents from say that midwest?

On average about half of matched residents are rotators and we have residents from all over the country and world for that matter. No preference is given to any particular geographic region.
