Sorry for posting this, but it's hard to get info on west coast programs on this board.

CN, I would love to be able to contact you. I'm an MSIII that is looking to match in Cali next year and I have questions about programs, etc. Send my a message on this board by going to 'my messages' on the left upper menu. Thanks!
I am in the same boat as orthofixation...3rd year desiring to match in cali next year. Planning on doing an away or two there, but would really appreciate having some more info. Would like to contact either california-nailing or orthofixation outside of the forum. I'll send you a pm message.

Thanks.

Please post Cali info here too if you can.

I'm esp interested in hearing from people who know about UCLA, UCSD, UCSF, and USC.

I just got wind of this whole website/ forum/ etc. I thus have little to contribute in the way of useful info ..... yet. I am a third year med student hoping to go to Cali myself. I would love info on the well-known univeristy programs, as well as the smaller university and community programs. Please count me in on the info-getting regarding Cali residencies! Thanks, and feel free to pm if this is easiest.

I interviewed at about half the Cali programs this year and matched at one of them. I might be able to answer some of your questions.

In general, you shouldn't really buy all the hype about geographical bias. I am from an east coast school and did well getting interviews out west. I did get a few questions about why I would want to go that far away, but not too much. It might help to do an away somewhere out west so you will look more serious about going out there. Only other generalization is that interview dates are tough to coordinate so expect to fly back and forth several times if you are trying to go from the east coast to Cali. If you post specific questions I will try to answer at least some. Good luck everybody. Remember to keep having fun with it. :roll smile:

rotated at ucsf. loved the place. although the chairman is leaving, the strength of the program definitely lies in the residents. ucsf is NOT malignant. yes they work hard while at the university hospital, but the residents are really happy. can't beat SF as a city either.
