I'm a fourth year at a US med school that ranked in the top 35 in US News and World Report. I got a 227 on step 1 and took step2 in july (scores not back yet). During med3, I only got one honors and rest were pass. I did ortho research during the summer between med 1 and 2 that should be published. I also wrote up a case report for a neurosurgery case which will be presented at the CNS conference this year. I wanted to know what are my chances of matching. I know it's tough but my goal is to match anywhere.
Your numbers are probably somewhat below those of the average med student applying to Ortho, but numbers aren't everything and yours aren't terrible. You can't change the past, but my recommendation would be to do 3 away rotations if possible and bust your ass to make a good impression. I know my program puts a fairly large emphasis on taking rotators. There are probably a fair number of programs who are willing to look past lackluster numbers and take a guy (or girl) who they know will work hard, gets along with others, and will be a good fit in the program.

mean USMLE step I score for successful applicant in 2005 was 230. your chance are at least average... greater than 80%.
