I'm a 3rd year. I got a 208 on step I. My first two years are just pass...I had medical problems which are now resolved after a tough time and a medical leave.
I AM ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH PEDIATRIC ORTHO!! I've shadowed some gen ortho docs, and some ped ortho physicians in the past few summers and I just love the combination of ortho and kids...you can change so much...its such a privalege.
My question is ...I would like to start getting an idea as to how to plan my away electives.
Could someone please tell me which programs in the midwest are partial to rotators...and additionally, which programs weigh their experience with a rotator heavily...to the point that one could assure the PD of one's talent/work ethic, that perhaps is not as convincing on paper. Peds ortho is definetely something I have to do. How can i go about it?
which programs are known to be empathetic to students with past difficulties?
then what? I create a list of these programs and start calling? ask how to schedule an away with them? do they filter students for away electives, or do I just need to show an interest? How do I build a relationship with 'important' people? I understand that I at this point don't have the grades so I'm trying to do everything that I can now and in the future.
could someone please give me a list of midwest or even eastcoast programs that are partial to rotators? and another question I have is that if they give you an interview, then your chances are pretty decent, ? correct? programs can only give a limited number of interviews, right? i'm not sure? would n't it be a waste of time to give an inteview to someone who you know you won't take at all?
in the list of programs, could you include with an asterisk or something , programs that will guarantee you an interview if you rotate with them? and then how to I go about rotating with them?
thanks so much
