I'm a 3rd year trying to decide a few electives - one of which will be ortho surg. However, what does everyone suggest for other electives that would make me a better ortho-candidate? Or, should I just cram as much ortho as possible? Was considering sports med, gen surg, endocrinology, etc as topics that would help me become a more well-rounded applicant. Thanks for any help
If you can do dedicated msk radiology that is definitely helpful.

Trauma ICU if your institution is a level one trauma center. You will certainly participate in the care of many ortho patients there and may be able to lend a hand every once in awhile to the ortho team during that month.

Some to consider:

Radiology (best if there's MSK exposure, though much of the stuff can be helpful on your gen surg year)
Rheumatology (usually chill, lots of joint issues)
Infectious Diseases
