Does anyone know much about this program? I know Emory in general has a great reputation but that the ortho program is on it's way back from an overhaul of sorts. Any inside wisdom that might not be gleaned from a one day visit? What are your advisors saying about this place? Thanks!
Thought I'd try one more time on this. Is there an Emory med student out there? Did anyone rotate there?

Spent some time there, think it is a good all around program. Don't really know how they are going to meet the 80 hour thing though. It seems they will have to revamp the whole grady rotation, which amounts to about 30-40% of their time. The time at Emory is pretty peaceful. Anyone know what their plans are?

I rotated at Emory this past fall. The program seemed solid. They get great operative experience and seem to cover all specialties well. Of course, there is a ton of trauma at Grady. As for the 80hrs, it won't be a problem outside of Grady. At Grady, they were talking about changing the call schedule and basically dividing responsabilities into junior or senior levels. They do have a new Chief of Trauma there now, and I've heard things are already changing for the better. I've heard they are getting a fellow that should also lighten the load, and, like every other program, are applying for an extra resident per year.
Personally, I haven't found a better all around program/city/residents/faculty.....Hope that helps.

thanks for your input! I interviewed there, really liked what I saw, and thought the residents were first rate. It was one of those programs, though, that I didn't know a ton about going into things and didn't expect to like as much as I did. I'm glad others got decent vibes and have heard good things! ...time to start putting the rank list togeather (for what it's worth)!
