Hi,

I am applying this year for urology. Urology doesn't have a great discussion board and I figured I ask the ortho guys since you guys have a very active discussion board. Last weekend applied to all the programs that I wanted to since urology is early match through eras.

1)Most of the program require 3 lors, however I have sent them 4 lor. However my 4th letter is not in yet. I was wondering if my application is considered complete since they require 3 lor eventhough I am sending them 4 lor. Most of the programs have their deadline set on oct 1st.

2) I just started using ADTS. When I look up specific programs under adts, for some documents it shows "Replaced by newer file before program could retrieve ". I was wondering if anyone knew what this meant.

I guess "Available, but not yet retrieved by Program" means that program has not downloaded any information yet.

Hopefully somebody out there understand how this process works.

Thanks
Not into the pee tubes, but have the same question
I did the same thing at some programs who "required" 3LOR but where I heard 4 LOR was more than welcome. My question then is the same: Does anybody know if the programs keep downloading letters that come in later if they already have 3 ? I have a good letter (ie, he knows me pretty damn well) from a really big name guy, but it's coming in a little later. I have two other good letters from pretty well known ortho guys, but my third is a great letter (knowing me wise) but from a non-ortho attending. My app is already done except for incoming letters, and programs have downloaded the other 3. Just didn't want an equally personal letter from a superstar Ortho guy to get nudged out by a non-ortho letter.
Any help would be appreciated (I know several people I'm on a rotation with had this same question).

My guess is YES, they'll download it. I have nothing to go by, but I would think they do. If they don't it certainly wouldn't hurt to try for 4, right? Best of luck to you.

Just call and ask, everyone I spoke to was really friendly. most places I asked were happy to have a 4th LOR, but not all. just check before doing it.
