Anybody know the skinny on timing of submitting your application? It is easy enough to find the deadlines for applying using FREIDA or the home web page, but does getting it in early have any benefits such as timing of interviews? or getting an interview? (do they look through the applications as they come in and after an acceptable # of attractive candidates are in forget about the last minute people? I know this played a part for entering med school as early app = earlier interview = more spots open that your body could fill. Would be bad news for us procrastinaters

Yo yo,

From what I've heard, it does help a little to get your appl. done early. That way, you won't be buried in the bombardment at the last minute.

Also, you may have more choices as far as interview dates.

Get it done early,

Even though many programs will take a while before they download it, they will know when it was submitted and some places they actually care about how early you turned your stuff in. Shows your not a slacker or you're really serious . . . but its not THAT big of a factor. Also, after the deadline to turn in your ERAS app . . . start checking your e-mail religiously and OFTEN. There were times when I got an interview date simply b/c I checked my e-mail right away and often and someone who only checked once a day got the e-mail the next day.

I agree with all of the advice so far. I think a good goal to shoot for is to have all of your stuff in to ERAS by the end of September at the latest. Your letter writers can send the letters a little later but hopefully no later than around Oct. 15th. A word of advice - knock out your personal statement early (like now or in July). I did an away month in August and my home school in September and it was no fun trying to write that thing with little or no sleep.
