Rising fourth-year medical students and recent medical graduates from U.S.-based programs are invited to apply for a one-year research fellowship in the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Research section at Beaumont Health-Royal Oak campus, under the clinical mentorship of Dr. Paul Fortin and research mentorship of Kevin Baker, Ph.D. Applicants must be entirely committed to the fellowship for the one-year period. Research fellows will perform basic, translational, and clinical academic research, resulting in abstract, manuscript, review article, and book chapter preparation and authorship. Research Fellows will be embedded with Orthopaedic Research Laboratory staff, but will interact regularly (OR and clinic shadowing) with orthopaedic Foot & Ankle surgeons and orthopaedic surgery residents through monthly research updates and other meetings. Dr. Fortin will also meet and communicate with the research fellow to assist with post-research fellowship career planning. Stipend available.
Interested students may apply by emailing a cover letter, CV, USMLE Step Scores and writing sample (e.g. lab report, term paper) to
[email protected]. We anticipate the position will begin in early June 2016.
Thank you.
