Figured I'd make this a separate posting since there was so much interest.
For people who didn't match, a great research opportunity: UCSD 2-year NIH Training grant in orthopaedic surgery. It's for 2 years of research (not necessarily contiguous), so it means it will be 7 years by the time you become an orthopod. It lines you up well for academics, is a prestigious position, and is a lot of fun.
Paid well by the NIH, counts as a fellowship (ie no need to repay loans), located in San Diego.
Email your CV to Dr. Amiel and Dr. Hargens (tneuschw@ucsd.edu) or call me. There are 2 paid positions. They usually interview in April, so the spots will be open til then.
I'm on one now, but I matched so the funding will open up for a new slot.
feel free to call or email me with questions.
