Saw some pretty good old posts on Harvard's program but was wondering what more recent experiences people may have out there and what they thought of the department? (students there, residents, rotators, etc) Even second hand knowledge would be appreciated.

this is second hand info: I rotated with a student who had just done a month at MGH. he absolutely loved it. great hospital and ancillary staff. attendings were very good for the most part. he felt that the residents got enough cases and that the fellows normally did not get in the way.

does any agree or disagree with the above?

I rotated there in October and it's an awesome hospital/program. It's as well rounded of a program that you'll find anywhere. Great attendings and residents. It definitely lives up to the "Harvard" name.

Harvard is a great program! I rotated there this July. Well rounded program, residents are happy and get plenty of operative experience. I saw the intern do cases from skin to skin on trauma. Free dinner after 9PM every weekday night for housestaff including the med students. 4's and 5's have a cush lifestyle and take home call or beach call. Attendings are very nice, not malignant like it used to be. No longer 6 years and just recently expanded from 10 to 12 residents per year. Intern year sucks though! Ur lucky if you work less than 100 hours on Trauma which is 3 straight months at MGH. Interns do PGY1 either at BI, MGH or Brigham's. Overall amazing program. If this program was located in LA, NY, or Miami it would be hands down my No. 1 choice.

Hope this helps.
