I don't know. Some people have the time and resources to do so. I guess if a person feels like they are not as strong a candidate as they would like to be they apply to every program and interview at every offer. Just speculation though. If someone is going to do over 20 or less than 5 please post an explanation. I am not sure how many I will do at this time. I want to match but I dont want to go bankrupt in the process.

I've been told by advisors/current residents that getting 10 interviews, while in no way a guarantee, generally indicates you will match. I'd like more and don't really see myself as being able to turn down any because of having too many, once you get over a certain number, say 15, you're going to be just going through the motions at some.

Well here you go, as if anything I say really matters. Applied to 30, will interview at 10 and match at 1 thats the scoop period! I don't understand the whole apply to 50 or 60 and chase interviews all over the country. My opinion, be realistic you know about where you stand in the whole scheem of things, if you go to poe dunk city med school and got a 200 on your boards don't waste time applying to Duke or Wash U or what ever. You know what I mean. That's just the way I see it though, for whatever it's worth. Hopefully I am not coming across as an arse, but I just say things how they aught to be. me love you long time!
