We have known about jAOA for about two months at my school, but every program does it differently. I am told that local chapters have quite a bit of say over criteria, and that some places don't even use grades, scores, etc, but rather "leadership," "involvement", and other subjectives. I can't confirm this. Also, I am told that chapters ARE bound by how many students can receive both junior and senior AOA. Statement is that up to 15%of the class can receive AOA; only 1/4 of those can be junior. This sounds consistant with what you are saying about 3-4 from a class of 100. My understanding at my school is that they base it completely on class rank, and go to board scores or something else to break ties. I apologize that a lot of this is unsubstantiated, but it's all I have. If you're like me, even rumors feed the hunger. I can't tell you how good it felt to find out. I walk around like I've outgrown my scrubs.
