I hit a 212 on Step 1 and would really appreciate a list of less competitive but solid programs. I would appreciate your thoughts even if you haven't been to a place and it is just through word of mouth.....db

try UMKC, they give preference to people who did not match the first try. Of course there really is no such thing as a not so competitive ortho program

You mean Univ. of Missouri KC right?

Worth doing an away rotation there??? Anyone do one there???

you asked for "not as competitive" programs, presumably b/c you are nervous about your step 1 score. I did not say i would "recommend" UMKC, just that if you are looking for places that are not as tough to get into, stats-wise, that UMKC does take quite a few people who did not get in the first time around, thats all. Besides, dont sell yourself short yet, apply broadly (and wisely, dont waste money) and see how the cards fall.
