Quick question for the learned members of this forum - given the choice between sending in a LoR from the well-known chair of the ortho dept. with whom you have never worked (basically a form letter) and sending in a letter from a general surgeon with whom you have worked and who regards you very favorably, which letter would you send in?
From what I understand, a letter from your programs ortho chair is important and should be included in you application especially if they are well known. Their letter will often reflect what the other ortho attendings and residents have to say about you as well as their own impressions. I would send the chair's letter and choose between your other LoRs to replace them with the general surgeon's. Good luck.
