So it looks like my school's ortho dept. has already taken all the students they can for research this summer. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas. I am probably going to try to get on a general surgery project now at my school. Do some ortho programs take students for the summer from other schools? I am pretty sure this is the field for me, and don't want to get behind because it is so darn competitive.

Thanks
There is a zimmer summer program but you best bet is find a doc at your school and done expect to get paid its almost rites of passage. Goodluck on finding it

my school has had an outside med student doing research. it's not the norm, but i think it's possible. a connection at a particular place would probably facilitate that.

don't feel like you'll be too far behind though if you don't do ortho research between M1 and M2. i went to central america for the summer and still put together a competitive application. i'd recommend getting involved in some projects during 2nd, 3rd, or early 4th year. and make sure whatever you get involved in, you work hard to finish and produce. anyone can sign up, but people like to see results.
