I have been looking at past match list posts... Does anybody really match at programs listed lower than 6ish? I realize there is a sampling bias because people who match at their #1-4 are more likely to post than those that don't, but it seems that most who match do so in the top half of their list.
For the original poster, I dont know i wish there were some stats from NRMP on this. However if you look at Charting Outcomes they say those who ranked 7 program you have a 75% chance of matching. It goes to 90% if you rank 8. The question is do you match at 1-3 spot on your ROL because you rank 8 or greater or you usually match because you are strong enough applicant.

I matched at my 7th choice.

Look at the ROL and "match day" threads. I think most post on those threads just so others realize how "great" they are.
