Certain programs require MCAT scores for residency application. My question is, which programs require these irrelevant scores and do they need an official score report. If so, were can we get it. Thanks for any input.
2 schools that I know require it are UNC and UCLA. You can get a copy sent at www.aamc.org

I did terrible on my MCATS and a school felt sorry for me and let me in so now I still have to overcome my scores because the rest of my app is good.

some schools ask for it, but I don't think it really matters much to anyone. Step 1 is light-years more important.

I think you will find that a lot of programs... especially the better programs require some sort of "hoop" for you to jump through to apply to them. That could mean a non-standard LOR, a special additional letter stating why you want to go there, a specifically formated PS, or some other transcript, like MCATs or Undergrad transcripts.... The point is, it really doesn't matter what extra hoop they give you, the point is to make you do something more to apply to their program than simply "check a box." Many programs simply put these requirements in as a way of acertaining whether you are willing to go the extra mile to apply to their program.

And make no mistake... this "jumping through extra hoops if you want it bad enough" will continue throughout your career.

Best of luck... it's a challenging time

Here is the link to their website. Maybe I have just overlooked it for the 5th time but I don't see where they mention wanting MCAT scores.

I checked with the residency coordinator. They used to require MCAT scores but, as of this year, that is no longer a requirement.

UCLA, UCLA-Harbor and UCSD all require MCAT scores. None of these programs require an official report, you can either include it in your personal statement or email them the info (I called and asked each program personally). UCSD also requires offical undergrad transcripts. Univ of Washington and Yale require an additional special evaluation form from each of your letter writers and it is available for download on their websites.
