Does anyone have any thoughts comparing these 2 programs? Thanks.
I don't have anything to say about Michigan, but I was extremely happy with my lifestyle and quality of training at the University of Wisconsin. The program has even improved since I left, with the addition of several new staff.

Working on my rank list and wanted to bring this post back up. Appreciate any input.

Bananabag, if you're still reading this site, how did you decide between these two?

As a resident who interviewed at both Michigan and Wisconsin, I was very impressed with both places.
Michigan- I thought the residents were a great group of guys. Ann Arbor is a neat college town. very busy intern year. great sports and pediatrics experience. one big concern is constant faculty turnover- a lot of attendings have left recently...
Wisconsin- very close group of residents who are a lot of fun. pretty busy trauma. Great place to train. really cool attendings

similar midwest programs in my experience. residents boast about good lifestyles. both are known for benign ortho staff and laid-back residents. senior residents traditionally obtain top fellowship spots. ann arbor and madison have a lot in common too. both midwest college towns, liberal atmosphere, brutally cold winters. madison is a slightly bigger city, with a nice location on a lake. ann arbor is great for college sports and close to outdoor activities. pick a place you feel comfortable. where do you want to live for 5 years? neither program is in the top 10, but both programs will train you well -- if you put in the effort.
