Im an M3 and I was wondering if I could get some feed back for my chances in getting into an east coast, especially nyc, ortho program (or really any ortho program).

I got a 244 on step I. I have honored most of my classes from first and second year. For third year rotations, I honored surgery and peds but passed Ob/Gyn so far. I probably wont get AOA. I have not done research but im planning on doing a trauma research project and an ortho case review. Im planning on doing 2 aways but I dont know where yet. I like fast cars and long walks on the beach.

What are my chances for ortho? What are my chances for the competitive east coast/nyc schools? Should I even apply to HSS or HJS? I would appreciate the advice.
Thanks,
i will try to head off the jackals, but i think that they will come after you anyway...

...rather than post your credentials, you are better off perusing the forum or doing a search because with a question like that, you are bound to get more snide responses than helpful.

but...your scores are good, AOA is not necessary but helpful, bust your butt on your away rotations and cross your fingers like the rest of us

Why don't you tell us all about your summer as a student editor for JBJS? Anybody else out there with similar doubts should go talk to their dept chairman or at least look at old posts on orthogate before you make the same mistake this guy just did. You're just like the rest of us and about 66% of us will match. Sorry, but I couldn't resist.
