The Division of Shoulder & Elbow invites third and fourth-year medical students or medical school graduates to apply for a 1 year clinical research fellowship position
This is a wonderful opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to strengthen their application for the Orthopaedic Residency Match. The research fellow will be expected to work on numerous projects with several investigators; therefore, excellent organizational and communication skills are paramount.
Responsibilities and daily activities include: learning how to develop a research hypothesis and to conduct a review of the literature; composing a research protocol; Institutional Review Board applications; opportunities for patient interaction; opportunities to be mentored in a hospital clinic and research setting; learning and/or honing clinical examination skills; opportunities to observe surgeries in the OR; opportunities to observe/practice surgical technique in the Hospital for Joint Diseases Surgical Skills Lab; collecting, organizing and analyzing clinical research data; preparing the results for submission for academic publication and presentation to peers.
*Third-year medical students are preferred*
