I have seen the unmatched NRMP list and Find-a-Resident (AAMC). Anyone know of other useful places or other methods of finding open residency or research fellowship positions?
Unfortunately there is no standardized/ frequently updated source of information that can be possibly as accurate as the grapevine. As I mentioned before, my friends and contacts with PD's were the unofficial source of excellent 'hot tips' for my application process.

This may sound simplistic, but at 37 cents a pop (compare this to ERAS fees!), you can write a nice professional letter to all the program directors out there stating your position and interests.

Many may go into the circular file, but for less than 100 bucks you can get your name out there. I was planning to do this if I didn't match this year.

It may be a waste of money, but I doubt it would hurt more than it might help. I figure the worst thing that could happen would be that some PD out there might appreciate the initiative and store the letter away in the "rainy day" file.
