Hi I wanted the collective wisdom of orthogate on something that has been eating away at me. I failed the introduction to clinical medicine ms2 final semester (basically it was just physical exams and what not), which I remediated, due to a death in the family and have subsequently taken the year off in between year 2 and 3 under my own decision. During this time however, I will be doing research in ortho at a top tier institution and am starting my own company. I also already have 4 ortho research projects with 2 publications that I have performed before starting at the new institution. In addition, I have good extracurriculars and leadership positions. I was wondering how bad this will look down the road with a 230+ step1 board score.
I failed a class for similar reasons and matched at a top tier program. I don't blame you for the anxiety, it ate at me constantly.

Can't change outcome. Keep working hard, ace research and clinicals, pick aways that fit and work hard, and you have a great chance
