Can anyone let me know about the schooling? What would I have to take as an undergrad student? This is something I just thought about doing because I want to be a physical therapist or either an orthopedic surgeon, so please any information provided will help me.

You can do whatever you want in undergrad. Be a religion major if that is what turns you on. All you need to do is get the pre-reqs in, so you can get accepted to med school. If you really want to boost your chances at getting into ortho, you can start shadowing and ortho physician and start getting involved in research. It doesn't have to be ortho research in undergrad, but that would be even better.

L2Zion: First things first. You have to get accepted to medical school. That should be your goal for the next few years. Forget about Orthopaedics right now...it's WAY TOO EARLY!!! Once you're in med school, come back to this forum.

Sounds like you are in or just started undergrad. Like was said above, the goal right now shouldn't be ortho, but rather first getting into med school. Basically to do that you need to take general chem, organic chem, physics, biology, calculus, crush the mcat, and get lots of A's in school and do lots of volunteering and stuff like that - but really the first thing you should do if you're serious about it is talk to your guidance counselor, or some schools have a pre-med person. they'll get you pointed in the right direction. oh yeah and stop wasting your time on nerdy sites like this and party it the f-up, college is all about the keg stand, baby. ):)

The best advice I can give is this: Learn to make the best grades you can in undergraduate while still having as much fun as possible. This skill will be much more valuable than any class they offer in undergraduate college.

Best advice I can give is major in whatever is most interesting to you. Do not listen to anybody telling you it should be biology or some other science major because their are plenty of us psych, philosophy, religion majors etc. You will have to take all the science classes required for med school anyway so give yourself a chance to get away from it, do well in it because you really like learning about it, and broaden your stinking horizons already. Also imperative to hit as many foam parties as possible and find out which night is dollar pitcher night (there's your economics lesson.) :smokin:

L2ZION, as you can tell, the ortho culture is about working hard and partying hard. Don't get too disacouraged if the latter is not your style (I know it is not mine). Just be aware that that is the reality. It is true that at this point your concern should be about getting into med school. Having said that, though, if you are sure that you want to do ortho, you might want to consider taking some biomechanics course or something similar. This should be seen as optional stuff, and certainly don't let it distract you from your main goal, which is getting accepted into a med school.

I echo what every one else said. I too an not a party person. But I will say this: My four years in college were the best four years of my short life. I didn't realize just how good I had it until the first month of med skool. It may seem like you're working hard now, but take some time to relax. Do a semester abroad, kick but in your science courses, explore some other non-science fields, ace the MCAT, do some research (in ANY field you like), and be a nice person. Then worry about ortho once you get accepted to medical school. And may be you'll be lucky enough to have me as an attending when you make it to medical school
