According to the ERAS manual,
Residency programs cannot view your
photograph during their initial evaluation of your application] I am interpret this as saying if a program downloads your photo, you should expect an interview notification whenever notifications are being sent out. This is actually nice since you can begin planning early for the interview trail before notifications are sent out. Is it possible, then, for a program to download your photo and later on decide not to give an interview? Perhaps they decided that the candidate is one butt ugly dude
That may not be true. If it is, I have an interview at everyplace that I've applied without them seeing my deans letter or transcript. I'd like to think that I'm just that great, but I must unfortunately doubt that possibility. It is possible that they simply download the picture as a part of your entire application, but are not able to access it.

you give your picture to your home dean's office. the dean's office scans and uploads it onto eras. you can check the ADTS site to make sure it has been downloaded.

yeah, i don't think the pic downloading = interview. as someone else said, every program i've applied to has downloaded my pic...

not mentioning numbers here, but i think i'd have the U.S. record in orthopaedic residency interviews offered if it were true.
