What up,

Just wanted to get some thoughts on the various pocket fracture books out there. Which ones are good for everyone's upcoming senior electives? I've looked at a couple, such as Zuckerman and others. Any revelations?

Thanks

i personally love the zuckerman/koval book. also, they will be selling a handheld version of the book this month. i have tested the beta version and it is a pretty awesome handbook to have on your palm!

Do you have any more info about the pending handheld version of the pocket fracture book? Where it will become available? Where is the beta version?

Perry's fracture handbook is also excellent. It's much smaller than Koval/Zuckerman's so it's easier to carry around and fit in your coat pocket. I've talked to a couple residents who swear by it.

the zuckerman/koval pda program should be out in a few weeks. i was one of the testers of the beta version for lippincott. it is really nice and easy to navigate. also, if you have a windows based os, i believe that you will get all of the graphics in the print version of the handbook. all of this and it only 725k on the palm os! definitely smaller than carrying around one of those damn books in your pocket!!

you can check out the description of the program by searching for "handbook of fractures" at

I used Perry (Handbook of fractures) as a 4th year. It was my understanding that Koval/Zuckerman was the "gold standard" for ortho pocket books however. It was not yet in print when I rotated so I settled with Perry, which I thought was an awesome pocket book for the 4th year student.

With that said, I'm starting off intern year with orthopaedics and I'll buy Koval/Zuckerman just as soon as I get a Pay check!!!!
