I'm a 3rd year interested in Ortho.
Does anyone know an adequate way to judge the quality of the various programs? I know US News put out a list of top orthopaedic hospitals but if I'm not mistaken, that is really judged by research money coming into the institution. To me, the money coming in for research doesn't equal quality orthopods coming out.
In speaking with other people I've heard different stories about different programs. One person would say a program was good and another person would say the same program was bad etc...
As well, I go to University of Texas-Houston and I don't even know if my own program is worth a damn. It's hard to ask the residents here whether they know if the program is good or not because of course they think it's good. (I would be biased as well)
Thanks for any insight.
In addition, please comment on how UT-Houston and Baylor College of Medicine are viewed by other orthopods around the country. If they are viewed at all.
