I am interested in finding out which programs out there have IMG's currently in residencies. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mayo and Harvard have IMGs. I think word had it on this web site that UVA also has IMGs. I think in general the most powerful programs are the one that match star IMGs (super smart, lots of research, excellent boards, etc) . Middle tier programs "play it safe" by getting only US grads. Just my opinion- might be wrong.

I am a foreign grad, and have tried unsuccessfully the last couple of years to enter a ortho program. It is not easy, no matter what your scores, etc. are. Your best bet is to find a program who is willing to take a foreign grad, and spend some time with them and impress them. It is an uphill battle.
Good luck.

I think it is better to do some good research before attempting to match. With excellent board scores, rotations, publications, etc, I think an IMG can match if (s)he is willing to spend 3 years or so doing research. The first year is when the IMG does the bulk of the research, the second is spent on finishing the major papers and presenting them at meetings (networking, networking, networking). The third is when the IMG can spend time off research to actually apply (including doing away rotations). Working with the right people and going to the right places can get you the connections. It is a lot of the ol' boys network, and working for someone who understands your long-term plans is essential.

yup, i agree with orthopedics - at least it worked for me this way.

did 2 years of research, and spent time with some of the attendings in clinics.

there is no way any program will accept an IMG without knowing him/her for quite a while.

I don't think any single program would match an IMG straight from med school. It takes a long-term commitment to research, etc before the chance to match in the US
