quick peds review

There's a peds ortho Secrets book out there...it's quite detailed and i don't think it's worth it at this point. He will not expect you to know any peds ortho at your level. Know your anatomy though.

Big bread and butter peds ortho topics you MAY want to read a little bit on are scoliosis, leg-length discrepancy, cerebral palsy, Legg-Calve Perthes, Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis, Intoeing and development hip dislocation

If you have a basic understanding of the above, you'd stand out among 99% of 3rd yr med students who are doing a pediatric ortho month!

Good book for 3rd year students interested in ortho: Text book of Disorders and Injuries of the Musculoskeletal System by Robert Salter. Has a decent peds section. Try your library or the ortho library if not it costs ~ $50.

The profanity filter is a little sensitive. It sometimes takes things out it should leave alone.

Peds ortho books:

I thought "Current clinical diagnosis in orthopaedic surgery" had a great peds ortho section. if you're pretty sure that you're gonna rotate in ortho during 4th year, you might just want to buy a review book like Current now, since you're gonna need it later anyway.

I have to agree with AceTabulum - Salter's book is great for Peds. It also covers most (if not all) of the the topics that you will see/be asked about during any ortho rotation. I was lent a copy during my first sub-I by the attending I was working with and it proved invaluable. Good luck with the rotation.
