I am just finishing my first away and have the Netter's Ortho atlas, Hoppenfield's (Extremities and Spine) and Koval. Honestly, the only thing I have used consistently has been Netter's. It has a lot of the basic fracture classifications, examinations, treatments, and surgical approaches. I view having the Netter's in your pocket on an ortho elective like doing a lot of questions for Steps I and II. I have also glanced at Hoppenfield's Surgical Exposures, which most programs will have in their resident's library or office, and this has been helpful before cases. I plan to read through Koval and Hoppenfield's Physical Exam on my next non-ortho rotation because I will have more time. Anyway, Ortho Netter is definately the best $50 I have spent in a long time. I agree, Netter's Ortho Atlas is excellent, although it is a tight fit in the pocket of your white coat. Well worth the cash.

Guess the credit card could use some warming up before apps anyway. I didn't realize the Netter's was pocket sized. That would be nice, I was talking about the Surgical Exposures Hoppenfield, not something I think I could carry around and read anyway (might be better to leave it at home).

netter's ortho atlas is a solid pick up...the only thing i have consistently used so far......hoppenfeld just weighs my pack back down......and ORIF got shafted if he/she paid $50 for it....i picked it up for 34.99
