this heads up is totally late for us, but better late than never i suppose...
In JBJS this month (november page 2090 i think) there is a study out that asked ortho program directors to rank how they evaluate students, in order to get into their program. (ie away electives -most important). for the most part, we can't change anything now, but if any of you help out younger students, it is good to know and to refer them to.

Any other highlights? Does it say what they were looking for in an interview? Probably could go find it but you make it seem as though that chapter is already written for the 4th years.

skimmed the article quickly basically said aways, step one, clinical honors, interview, letters (from someone they know, then one that says something outstanding, then someone well known, then any orthopod), and AOA seem to be the most important factors.

Then in the summary, it stated that these may be the factors, but many studies show that they may not be the best way of determining a a good resident.
