The Rothman Orthopedic Sports Medicine Division is seeking applications to fill two, year-long paid research fellowships beginning approximately in June 2024 at both our Philadelphia and Southern NJ locations. The opportunity is uniquely designed for outstanding M3/M4 students currently enrolled in US medical schools and targeting a career in the field of orthopedics.

Position: THREE Clinical Research Fellowships
Where: Rothman Institute (Philadelphia and Southern NJ locations)

Duration: 1 year competitively salaried position
Research Duties/Benefits:The Sports Medicine Research Fellow will be integrally involved in developing, coordinating and conducting research of the division of Sports Medicine at the Rothman Institute and Thomas Jefferson University. This position offers the unique opportunity to work closely with our dedicated faculty, clinical fellows and residents on 50+ new and ongoing research projects. The Rothman Institute is widely recognized as a leader in orthopedics research and is considered one of the most prolific in terms of producing orthopedic literature. As such, applicants can expect a high-paced, dynamic research environment with many opportunities to present at national and international conferences as well publish in various peer-reviewed journals. This position will undoubtedly increase the competitiveness of an application in orthopedic surgery as well as be a wonderful opportunity to network with Rothman surgeons. Applicants will have ample opportunities to attend weekly didactic/grand round lectures and shadowing in the OR with various Rothman attendings.Applicants will be selected based on their medical school performance, previous research experience and general interest in the available positions. - Writing and submitting publications
- Develop research studies and designs
- Compose research protocols, IRB documents and proposals
- Submit IRB continuing reviews on existing projects
- Enroll patients and maintain follow-up outcomes for ongoing prospective studies
- Collecting, organizing and analyzing collected clinical data
- Manage and mentor student researchers

- Demonstration of exceptional organization and communication skills
- Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
- Leadership experience and ability to work in a team
- Previous experience with clinical research
- Proficiency with Microsoft office
- Statistical background and familiarity with statistical software
- Familiarity with RedCap software
- Familiarity with IRB documentation
