What's up folks,

drafting up my rank list and wanted to poll the wise ol' pods and seasoned fourth years out there. How would you rank the following programs based on 1) program reputation, 2) quality of resident training, and 3) "the atmosphere" of the program (i.e. malignant vs benign, tight group of resident vs a bunch of lone wolves, etc). These are the programs in question:
Brown
Rush
Jeff
Columbia

Also, what do y'all think of NYU/HJD vs Harvard vs Pitt?

Peace and good luck with the match.

Here's my $0.02 (for what it's worth)

Rush
Columbia
Brown
Jeff

as for the other three...

Pitt
HJD
Harvard

P.S. If you actually let my post change your match list, then you are a complete moron! Good luck.

nice BoneBlaster...I held off on that one until someone else posted. You rank list should be YOUR rank list. It should come from your gut, not someone else's opinion, or ranking system. You are going to get a great training at any of those places. So where will you be happiest? That should be your No. 1 factor...not reputaion or anything else.

Ortho2003-

I understand your point. You should rank the program according to your own feelings. However, you continue to post this reply. People post to get an opinion of programs that they have no strong feelings for. Let other people speak your opinion is getting old.

relax fellas, i was just trying to get some objective info from people who knew something about these programs firsthand (rotators, students, etc), since my current knowledge of these places stems from just interview days and their brochures.

ortho2003 - spare us the b.s. about reputation not playing a role in the decision making.

thanks for your input anyway, boneblaster

Sorry bound...It is not B.S. I am not sharing my rank list, but I can guarantee that I didn't apply, or rank according to reputation or someone else's opinion. I ranked according where I thought I would be happiest for the next five years.

I am not trying to be a smart ass or anything. You have obviously interviewed at some great places and I suspect you realize that you will get a great training at all of them. If you are having trouble ranking them based on reputation or quality of training, they are probably pretty equal. Start looking at some of the less cerebral things about it. Did you really like some of the residents at one place, or like once city over another, or even something as silly was there a park near the hospital where you could go for a run after work. It doesn't all have to be reputaion and academics. You have to live where you train for five years.
