Hi guys,

NBME has said Step 2s taken up till July 27 will be released earliest September 25, 10 days after ERAS is released.

I was planning on having my score out at that earliest date, but might have to push back testing for a couple weeks for external reasons.

If I'm going in with an average Step 1 (240) but all else good, will sending in Step 2 late hurt my application?

Thanks in advance.
Most Ortho programs don't even download apps until the Dean Letters come out (which I believe is ~October 30th). So you should be good to go -

Where is that info? Or is that school-dependent? I've never heard that before

Its not an official rule - its just what most programs do, so I don't think that it would be listed anywhere. That was just my experience last year, and all of my classmates experience (who applied to Ortho that is)

okay - thanks - we are being told 'send ERAS once it opens' from out school

i guess with that being said, and you having gone through the process already, do you think it would hurt my chances?

I have a similar question... I want to have my step 2 score before I sent out eras applications.. I'm hoping my step 2 will make up for a below average step 1 score. I was actually thinking not to even apply this year and just do research if my step 2 isn't up to par..
So will it hurt me not to submit eras til sep 25?? Must it be submitted when it opens?
