For those of you who have taken the actual test, how do the following questions sources compare in difficulty level and content to the actual exam.

NMS
Kaplan QBank
Released Items on Official CD
PreTest Step 2 Q's

QBank's seem significantly easier than NMS or PreTest (haven't done the 150 released ones yet)

Thanks,

NMS was as right on the $$ as any source probably could be.
The 150 questions on the CD were definitely easier than the real thing. I also did Mock Exam and it was easier than the real thing too, but still good practice.
I didn't use the others you ask about.
Good luck. I'm so glad to have that behind me... :smokin:

I agree with O.D.

NMS was right on the money. I thought it was an excellent book. When it came down to it NMS and Prescription for the Boards were the only two books that I used on my way to rockin' step II (I think I just tore my rotator cuff patting myself on the back). Just keepin' it real :roll smile:

Took it yesterday. Now can sit back and relax, no more boards for 2 and a half years.

In my opinion, NMS was harder than the actual test (about 10%). Every NMS test had 20 or so really oddball questions whereas I found maybe 20 total oddball questions on the actual test. Also, way less of annoying questions like what %age of X have Y, none of the multiple answers to questions. The test did have prob 15 questions with images (some of which were not very high quality). Know your peds and ob/gyn (ob especially) well. Also, a lot of oncology.

I don't work for Kaplan, but I think the QBank was directly on target for what I saw.

The released questions were probably about 10-15% easier than the actual test.

Also - they're doing 8 blocks of 46 questions now instead of 50 -- so you get a total of 368 for the day.

Hey BBR, taking step2 in two weeks; do you still get 60 min per block even with the 46 questions instead of 50? Still get the hour of breaks or do they give you more time? ):)

The timing is the same. Eight 60 minute blocks, 45 minutes break + 15 minute tutorial time (which you just zip through and add to break).
