Would be curious to know from your personal experience or what others have shared, which (competitive) programs fit into this category.

My impressions (feel free to challenge):

Campbell
Utah
Vanderbilt
Yale
Interesting question. In addition to regional selectivity I think this process can just be weird in general. Example - I am from Connecticut and go to school on the east coast, got denied at Yale but interviews at UCSF and Stanford. Strange.

I'll have to agree with KWCRG. Yale seems to interview apps from all over, and the current intern class, although composed of two from CT, also have interns from Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Taiwan. My sense is a large majority of programs are gauging whether you would consider moving to the area, but don't necessarily care where you are from, per se. Good luck sundog, sounds like you have a good number of interviews.

Campbell is not regionally selective.

Considering about half of the Utah residents are from the southeast and very few are from the southwest, I wouldn't say they are regionally selective

I can think of about ten recent examples. Utah, Montana, Dakotas, California...
