heelbonedoc,

in an earlier post regarding UNC you said you had already matched in ortho. Considering a change of residency programs?

i'm an intern at a texas program, but i'm trying to find out what the conceptions and misconeptions are amongst the applicant pool about the various programs in order to provide better feedback to students at my program.

my view is this... baylor is having problems due to in fighting and no chairman, they may get Lieberman from UCLA, but it'll still take time to rebuild

southwestern is still a good program, but pretty malignant, they've had more than the average number of residents leave over the last five years, super trauma heavy

ut-houston is an underdog, good training, world class hospitals, but they're also trauma heavy for only having 3 residents, good exposure to pedi thru Shriners and tumor thru MD Anderson

ut-san antonio is dropping in prestige, tons of changes over the past few years in faculty, still too trauma heavy, people I know that rotated there were not impressed

ut-galveston is the cushest, only take call q8, which begs the question, how much can you learn if you're on call less than once a week

scott and white is a really good program, residents are well trained and not too overworked, but temple, tx!!

any others you want to know about?

again these are just my impressions from interviewing, away rotations, and word of mouth
