Is anyone familiar with this program? Not too many previous posts about UF-Jax...
I interviewed at UF-Jax on Friday ... so I know a little about the program. Overall, seemed like a program in flux. Recently increased size from 2 to 4 residents (PGY-1,2 both with 4 residents). Residents seemed pretty happy overall. 3 months of night float as PGY-2, no overnight call for rest of residency.

The faculty has also undergone a lot of change (recently added a bunch of faculty, but lost their spine guy). Overall, a decent trauma heavy residency with no dedicated time on the trauma service (take trauma call throughout residency). Trauma attendings seemed young, but are both relatively well-known. One attending across the board - except for spine.

Facilities were nice ... Shands is a level one center, ~750 bed hospital, relatively new. Sweet call rooms, resident gym. I heard Nemours (the peds site) is really nice, although the weather prevented us from touring the site. Weather is a plus, although everyone said it can get REALLY hot. Cost of living - decent - most residents own homes ... plus you could live on the beach if you want (sweet ).

Overall, well-rounded program - trauma heavy - lacking spine (but faculty say the program is undergoing a lot of change. That's all I can think of now ... If you have other ?s you can PM me.
