I did an away at UConn and absolutely loved it. I ranked them very highly and would love to match there tomorrow. Great residents, excellent faculty, and strong operative and academic experience. You do two weeks at UConn in Farmington (more elective cases) and two weeks at Hartford Hospital (more trauma).

I can't say too much about UMass so hopefully someone else can help you out, but I didn't even interview there because they have a mandatory two day interview (Fri & Sat) that would have made me miss two interviews. I thought that it was pretty inflexible of them especially since the Sat was 1/11/03 one of the most popular interview days. Best of luck!

18 hours and 30 minutes to go.

I did an away rotation at UConn and absolutely loved it. The residents are great and they are super happy. They get a great clinical, surgical, and educational experience. I think the biggest draw are the attendings and their willingness to teach in a manner that doesn't degrade. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the program.
As for UMass, I can't say too much because I didn't rotate there. Also, I didn't go on my interview there because it was for 2 days. Good Luck
